Autism (and more) Tests in English

Der Artikel wurde am 20.01.2023 aktuallisiert oder erweitert.

A comprehensive list of different online tests from different providers. It’s legitimate to ask whether these online tests are trustworthy or even cause proper testing. It is common for me to hear negative things about online tests because they are only available on the internet. However, due to my clinic and therapy experiences and conversations with sufferers, I can confirm that these tests are the same as those used in these medical areas.

The difference between a professional diagnosis and a simple one.

Although a test is firstly only a test that provides a few results without professional supervision and without professional interpretation and evaluation, it should be used only as a personal indicator.

The test might have used in medicine is the same. However, it cannot provide an overall picture to a professional diagnosis.

To get a feeling for the value of an online test – without an additional medical diagnosis – one can compare such a test with a weather forecast. Let’s say you see a weather map of a federal state. It is reported that it will be cloudy and light rain is possible. This statement is a tendency direction, which tells everyone that this will not be a hot summer day, but rather unpleasant weather. Depending on all the circumstances, only the people who live there (cf. diagnosis) can tell you how the weather is in detail and how it will develop.

In summary: Do these tests and look at the results. Talk to your trusted doctor if you find that your emotional world is reflected in the test.

Differences between the tests

The big AQ tests contain 50 questions and more. There are also short tests with about 10 questions. The duration of a test is estimated to be about 30 minutes.

Important: Don’t rush your test. Take your time and think about it. The more time you spend, the better the result will be.

A note about tests and diagnosis

Finally, I would like to point out that it is not helpful to take an online test and then take it to a medical professional and tell them you have autism. Many professionals are negatively affected by this, even if the doctors also use these tests. Doctors also feel that you are being put on the spot if you have already arrived with a result and have made your own diagnosis.

Imagine that you are a car mechanic and that a customer comes to you with a problem with his car. How would you react if the customer then said, “I’ve already looked at everything on YouTube and know that it’s the spark plugs”? Then the response might be, “yeah, if you already know everything, you might as well do the repair yourself.”

Always be honest and go neutrally to a doctor and/or a diagnosis. This will help you and the doctor with a real diagnosis.

However, I hope you have some exciting moments at the tests.

Depression tests

Below are the tests around the topic of depression.
